As a marketer, you know all of what you need for a webinar. You need a speaker (or two), some slides, maybe some videos or animations, and a great program to bring it all together. Sounds easy, right? It can be, but it can also be so difficult if you’re doing everything (mostly) yourself.
I’m Britani and I’m the Growth Marketing Manager here at Parmonic, and I want to share with you 5 reasons why it’s hard to do a webinar as a marketer.
A big part of my job is making sure we have quality content to create and for us, webinars are just that.
1. Thinking through the technical aspects
We had some issues in the beginning since we originally started on Microsoft Teams. However, that had some issues for the speaker windows for us and we eventually settled on Zoom for hosting and recording our webinars. It did take a few attempts to get this right, but practice makes perfect!
2. You have to find a good speaker that reflects your goals for the webinar
It should most certainly have something to do with your business or pertain to whatever topic you’re presenting. Make it fun and interactive and sometimes, that's easier said than done if your audience hasn't had enough coffee.
3. Trying to find a good time between several people can take a while
You already know syncing calendars is an already insane task just for the most basic meeting, so getting everyone together as soon as possible to discuss plans and rehearse is a wonderful idea.
4. Sometimes you have to wait on other people
If I had a nickel for every time something was held up because of waiting on someone else, I’d be a billionaire by now! All jokes aside, when working with others, you know how this can affect the timeline, so make sure you take that into consideration. Also, as a marketer, I helped create the slides and it definitely takes some time between editing and back and forth with the presenter and anyone else.
5. The content you create with the webinar afterwards should be perfect and polished and put together in a way that makes it compelling, not boring.
Now that you’ve spent allllllllll this time working on the webinar, make sure it’s up to your standards and present it as if it were a precious treasure to you. Make sure everyone knows how wonderful and valuable it is.
